Brow Tattoo

After-Care Instructions

Week 1

  • Do not get brows wet for two weeks!
  • Keep them extremely clean and only apply Vaseline after day 3 if they are extremely dry and flaky.
  • If the brows appear dry but are not flaking, avoid applying anything and allow them to heal naturally on their own. If you feel as though your brows are still flaky and dry you can continue to apply a thin layer of Vaseline once daily.
  • Avoid shellfish, glutinous, and starchy foods such as potatoes and sticky rice for the first 3 days to avoid swelling, irritation, and infection.

Week 2

  • On day 7, you can get a slightly damp cotton pad and gently pat down the brow to remove any dirt or hard fluids built up.
  • Do not use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Week 3

  • Make sure to keep the skin clean and dry. Let them naturally exfoliate and scab, do not pick.
  • You can moisturize with a normal moisturizer but no products that contain glycolic acid or AHA's (please refer to your current skincare product ingredients).
  • No cleaners, makeup, swimming, spas, or direct water on the area until peeling has finished.
  • Brows will not appear their true colour until the fourth week.
  • For some clients it is perfect, others it may be too light, or patchy in some areas.

It is crucial to adhere closely to after treatment guidelines for best healing results.

Healing: What to Expect
  • Depending on metabolism, some people will experience more exfoliation than others.
  • The colour underneath the brows will at this point appear to be much lighter in comparison to the skin which is coming off.
  • The eyebrows will take 10-15 days to fully appear after the peeling has finished.
  • At this point the colour will be lighter and more natural in appearance.
  • Sunscreen is advised to protect the brows from fading.
  • If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact Kisume Beauty immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

Lip Tattoo

After-Care Instructions

Do not apply any makeup or products other than aftercare ointment until your tattoo is fully healed.

Week 1

  • At the beginning and end of each day, use a small amount of antibacterial soap on clean fingertips to gently cleanse your lip tattoo.
  • Use a soft patting motion, do not rub. Blot gently to dry.
  • Once completely dry, massage in a thin layer of aftercare ointment.
  • Do not over moisturize lips or the pigment may fade prematurely.

Week 2

  • You may resume exercise, sun exposure, and regular wetting at your own discretion when your tattoo is done scabbing.
  • Continue to avoid chemical peels, exfoliating, and products containing retinal, alpha hydroxy, and glycolic acids until touchup.

It is crucial to adhere closely to after treatment guidelines for best healing results.

Healing: What to Expect
  • You may experience discomfort, mild pain/sensitivity, swelling, and redness immediately following the procedure. Your lips may feel tight and you might experience a tingling sensation.
  • Do not apply any makeup or products other than aftercare ointment until your tattoo is fully healed.

Days 1-3

At first, the initial treated areas will appear darker than the final result. Please be aware of this and do not worry, as the final appearance will soften after the healing process is finished.

  • For the first few days your lips will feel dry and swollen and appear chapped.
  • Avoid eating shellfish, glutinous, and starchy foods such as potatoes and sticky rice for the first 3 days to avoid swelling, irritation, and infection.

Days 4-7

Around day 3 or 4, your lips will begin to chap and flake.

  • Do not scratch or remove the scabs.
  • Please note that picking, scratching, or removing healing skin from your tattoo may result in loss of pigmentation.
  • Healed skin will fall off on their own and any adjustments needed will be corrected during your touch-up.

Day 7 until Next Touch-Up

  • You may resume sun exposure and wearing makeup around your lips at your own discretion once your tattoo is done scabbing.
  • It will appear lighter and softer and may darken slightly as the skin regenerates and fully heals.
  • Patchiness or loss of pigment will be addressed and corrected during your touch-up.
  • Be sure to wear SPF lip products to protect your investment.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)

After-Care Instructions

It's important to care for your scalp as you would for an open wound following SMP treatment.

  • Avoid getting it wet and keep it clean.
  • Avoid chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, or tanning beds for a period of 28 days following your last treatment.

First 5 Days

During the first five days following treatment, avoid:

  • Intense sweating: avoid exercise as excessive sweat disrupts healing.
  • Shellfish, glutinous, and starchy foods such as potatoes and sticky rice for the first 3 days to avoid swelling, irritation, and infection.
  • Scrubbing & Shampooing: causes skin breakages, avoid harsh chemicals. Gently rinse scalp, use wet cloth, avoid soaking scalp.
  • No shaving or irritating the healing area.
  • Sunlight exposure: UV and sunburns may cause premature fading.
  • Minimize Touching: avoid introducing bacteria and risk of infection.
  • Stay hydrated, continue taking your prescribed medication, wearing a hat or skullcap is ok, and you can sleep in any comfortable position.

Days 5 to 10

Your scalp should be showing improvement and healing nicely. During this period, continue avoiding:

  • Scratching the Scalp: Just like with tattoos, the skin on your scalp may start to peel. Avoid scratching or picking any scabs that may form.
  • Shampooing or Exfoliating: they can interfere with the formation of new skin layers during the healing process.
  • Using Self Tanners or Skin Irritants: avoid inflammation or disturbing the healing process. You may carefully shave or trim your hair if necessary.
  • Continue rinsing the area lightly with water and soap for cleanliness.
  • Applying a fragrance-free moisturizer can assist in the healing process.
  • You can also gradually resume light exercise.

Day 10 & Beyond

After the first ten days, your scalp should have healed enough to resume your normal routine.

Depending on the healing progress, your next treatment session might be scheduled after 10 days.

Prior to your follow-up session, you will be instructed to wash your head and trim your hair.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.
